bopalin:

So that Free! episode was actually pretty enlightening. But, VERY DEPRESSING and had so much ANGST.

FIRST OFF, CAN WE JUST

TAKE A MOMENT AND

ADMIRE THIS FINE SPECIMEN

THAT IS MAKOTO? ヽ(;▽;)ノ *huge nosebleed* *caresses screen* This guy is too handsome for his own good.

Anyways…

This episode was pretty revealing. We got more insight on Haru’s thoughts/feelings. It’s a lot to take in, I’m pretty sure.

THESE NEXT SCENES HAVE TORN MY HEART TO PIECES THAT SEEM TO BE IRREPARABLE.

I commend Rin for wanting to help Haru find his path for the future. image

I’m pretty sure he believes Haru can get into a good school because of the huge potential he has.

WE CAN ALSO TAKE A MOMENT AND GRIN TOGETHER LIKE FOOLS ON HOW MUCH RIN CARES. Like seriously.

Okay, moving on.

Here we see Haru’s nightmare. His fear. The enormous pressure that people around him, even his close friends, are giving him has taken a toll on Haru. It’s pretty interesting (to me) because Haru never seemed to mind about the scouting and the pressure.

Being free has been part of his life motto. And I’m guessing being a third year in high school, having to choose a career path, seeing your best friend (Makoto) knowing where he wants to go, AND all the scouts expecting you to do well in the matches, it really hit Haru hard.

And then we see Haru’s nightmare coming true.

Which leads him to stop swimming. And gets him out of the finals. MY POOR POOR HARU.

Which THEN leads to a lover’s quarrel. (A-ha. Too soon? Sorry)

OUCH

That really nipped right in the bud. Haru meant to say those words. That was his purpose for swimming after all. BUT JUST LOOK AT THE PAINED EXPRESSION RIN HAS. PROLLY THINKING THINGS LIKE AREN’T I YOUR FRIEND?

I’m pretty sure Rin wanted Haru to try his best so he can lead his life towards a bright future. He only cared so much for his friend. However, their views are different. Although, I wish it didn’t turn out that way :(

Haru was just caught up in the moment. So I’m hoping RinHaru get back together.

MEANWHILE:

imageMY POOR POOR WHALE SHARK.

Someone help him. I need him to be happy. I NEED ALL OF THEM TO BE HAPPY.

I doubt things are going to get better in the next episode. Which will totally kill me. I WILL NOT SURVIVE.

Souske is selfish… but not for the same reason you think he is.

avvviso:

Many of you guys really really hate Souske for some reason, and that’s totally fine.

But if you hate Souske because you think he is selfish… you better read on.

Tsundere characters, I don’t really like at first sight either. They seem self centered, selfish, and obviously (emotionless). However, once they open up to other characters, you see a different part of them and makes you want to realize what made them become so cold or even seem selfish.

Before I go into all this in detail, I want to ask you all a question;

HAVE YOU EVER WANTED SOMETHING SO BAD YOU WOULD DO ANYTHING TO GET IT?

Whether that’s something as big as passing an interview to get your dream job or as small as asking for a pet dog, I’m sure everyone had something like that in their lives.

What does Souske want?

He wants to swim.

Souske cannot process the idea of swimming for the sake of friendship which is the main reason why I believe Souske thinks Rin is being hindered by Haru.

(but I agree that he was kind of a jerk at the beginning)

Souske is only selfish because he wants to achieve his goals. He strives for something high however always cannot reach.

He maybe even be jealous of Haru who has everything set out for him (however does not want to take that path). The path that Souske desperately is dreaming for.

If you think Souske is self centered then put yourself in his shoes and see how you’d feel if you’d worked your hardest to achieve your dream but cannot go on any more.
